This entry level course provides new starters with the skills and knowledge required to work on a surface mine site in Qld. The course takes participants through 8 modules that will give valuable knowledge to the participant in regards to the day to day operations of a coal mine, but more specifically the common safety practices of Coal Mines. In addition to safety, the course will run the participants through a brief history of Coal Mining as well as the future of Coal Mining. The Standard 11 (S11) Training Course in both Brisbane, Mackay and Townsvillewill give you all the basic information required to keep you safe on Coal Mines and also allow participants to gain access to Coal Mines in QLD.

Upon the successful completion of this course, participants can obtain a credit card sized ‘ID Card’. When this is presented at a recognising Queensland mine site, the worker will be site inducted and complete workplace assessment which will then allow them to be inducted on site and undertake any other site requirements before then completing the work they are employed to do.

It is recognised that many workers within the mining industry have existing skills and knowledge that map to the relevant Standard 11 competencies. These workers have the opportunity to have these recognised by undertaking the RPL course. The Standard 11 RPL course is also a refresher for Coal Mine workers that is required to be undertaken every 5 years.

The full course requires 2-3 days of training, depending on whether you will be undertaking Surface only or the Surface/Underground combined course. If a participant has prior learnings there is the 1 day refresher course available to also undertake.

Standard 11 Mining Induction - Combines Surface and Underground

This is the base requirement for those wanting the option of working above or underground. It includes one extra unit of education to cover the underground Coal Mining training. This is a 3 day full course and catered to those with little or no prior experience in the industry.

Standard 11 Mining Induction - Combines Surface and Underground RPL

This course is designed for those with past experience in the Coal Mining industry for which they will gain credit and reduce the duration of the course to 1 day. To undertake the RPL version of the standard 11 you will be required to produce evidence of previous mining experience. This can include Site authorisations, Site inductions, referee testimonials or past mining appointments.

Standard 11 Mining Induction - Combines Surface and Underground 5 Year Refresher

A 1 day refresher course is offered for those who currently hold or have previously held a Standard 11 appointment. A copy of your standard 11 statement of attainment will need to be produced to undertake this course.

Standard 11 Mining Induction - Surface

The above three mentioned courses are also offered for surface only which means there is one less unit of learning and this reduces the full course duration from 3 days to 2 days. If there is no requirement for the trainee to work underground then these would be the suitable options.

Standard 11 Mining Induction - Underground

This course is offered as a bridging for those that have completed the surface Standard 11 and now are required to work underground. This one day course will give you the final unit of education required for the Standard 11 combining Surface and Underground.
