The easiest way and first step to get a mining job is to complete a couple of mining related courses. Think about whether you want to work above ground or if you are happy to work in an underground mine. Once you’ve figured this out, you’ll need to complete a mining induction course. Standard 11 courses are tailored to Coal mining and there is one for surface and another for underground mining. If you don’t want to work on a Coal mine site then you can complete a Generic Induction course which allows you to work on a Metaliferous mine site. It wouldn’t hurt to complete a couple of mobile plant training courses either. Popular courses are dozer training, haul truck training, front end loader and skid steer loader training.
