Yesterday's Energy Skills Conference encompassed the theme of 'Energy Skills 2020'. Experts discussed the many initiatives, challenges and opportunities facing the energy, resources and telecommunications industries now and into the future. With that in mind, everyone was encouraged to look into the future and commence critical mining training, construction training, oil & gas training and electrical training to prepare our workers for the future.
Rio Tinto's Pilbara mine site received a mention with its driverless technology. Although it means there will be a lot less people needing Haul Truck training, the experts say there will be an increased demand for haul truck maintenance training and control centre training in the future.
The Department of Education and Training is on a war path to shutdown RTO's that are issuing 5 or more competencies after a single day of training. This is another reason why Resources Industry Skills Association (RISA) is a great association and adds value to the industry as they have a thorough vetting process to ensure RTO's advertised on their website are providing quality training to participants.
